Quality & Inspection
Measured in Precision. Proven in Performance.
At United Plastic Components, quality isn’t a phase — it’s a philosophy. From the moment your design enters our system to the final shipment of finished parts, quality is built into every process, every part, and every interaction. Our ISO 9001:2015 certification is just the starting point. What truly sets us apart is our relentless commitment to precision, repeatability, and continuous improvement.
With an experienced in-house Quality Team, a fully equipped inspection lab, and a culture focused on accountability, we ensure every profile we produce meets or exceeds your specifications — every time.
ISO-Certified, Process-Driven
United Plastic Components has been ISO 9001 certified since 2001 — a testament to the strength and maturity of our Quality Management System (QMS). This system governs every aspect of our operation, from raw material intake and tool validation to in-process inspections and shipping protocols.
We offer extensive inline capabilities, including:
- Documented quality procedures across departments
- Batch and material traceability for full production history
- Retained production samples and inspection records
- Corrective and preventive action tracking (CAPA)
- Ongoing internal audits and management reviews
This structure provides the consistency our customers count on — and the visibility they often require for their own audits and compliance programs.
In-House Quality Lab
Located adjacent to our production floor, our Quality Lab is a dedicated space where we verify that each run meets critical dimensional, cosmetic, and material requirements. The lab is managed by skilled technicians who work closely with production operators and engineers to identify issues early, provide immediate feedback, and maintain a closed-loop improvement cycle.
Our lab is equipped for:
- Dimensional measurement using calibrated calipers, micrometers, and custom gauges
- Optical comparators for precision profile verification
- Color matching using visual and instrumented analysis
- Impact, tensile, and flexural testing as required for performance validation
- Hardness and durometer testing for multi-material profiles
With an experienced in-house Quality Team, a fully equipped inspection lab, and a culture focused on accountability, we ensure every profile we produce meets or exceeds your specifications — every time.
Real-Time Quality Control
Quality doesn’t happen in a lab — it happens on the line. Our production staff are trained in line-side inspection techniques and supported by quality techs who monitor production in real time. Every run includes first-off inspection, in-process checks, and final approval before release.
Standard inspections include:
- Dimensional verification at prescribed intervals
- Surface finish and color checks against master samples
- Inline label and marking confirmation
- Adhesive or coating consistency (if applicable)
- Visual and functional testing for complex profiles
We also maintain master samples and part drawings at each station, so operators have easy access to the most up-to-date specifications.
Tooling Integrity & Repeatability
Great parts depend on great tools — and great tools require proper care. To ensure repeatability across orders, even years apart, we maintain robust tooling documentation and preservation systems.
This includes:
- Post-run inspections to check for wear or buildup
- Scheduled refurbishment or re-polishing of dies and fixtures
- Controlled storage to prevent warping, corrosion, or contamination
- Re-certification of tooling before reuse for critical parts
This level of detail helps ensure your product looks, fits, and functions the same — from the first run to the fiftieth.
Customer-Focused Flexibility
Every customer has different quality priorities. Some focus on aesthetics and color consistency. Others require tight dimensional tolerances or documented SPC for regulated industries. We tailor our quality protocols to your needs and build them into the job file from day one.
We support:
- Custom inspection plans and data collection
- PPAP and first-article inspections
- Certificate of Compliance (CoC) documentation
- Sample submission and approval processes
- Collaborative quality reviews and improvement initiatives
